Laura Mvula Announced On Coachella and Jazzfest Lineups

Debut ‘Sing To The Moon’ Receives Best of 2013 Praise

Nominated for Two 2014 BRIT Awards

Laura Mvula has been confirmed to perform at this year’s Coachella and Jazzfest festivals.  Additional headlining dates have also been added.  See below for a full list of upcoming tour dates.

Mvula took 2013 by storm, making her US debut at SXSW in March, followed by a slew of headlining dates and a slot on the lineup for Alicia Keys’ Black Ball, as well as performances on The Today Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.  Her debut, Sing To The Moon, made many critics’ year-end lists, including The Wall Street Journal’s year-end wrap-up, The New York Times’ Best of 2013, LA Times’ Top Albums list, Rolling Stone’s Best Debuts of 2013, People Magazine’s Top 10 of 2013, NPR’s Favorite Songs of the Year and 50 Favorite Albums of 2013, Vulture’s Top 100 Songs of 2013, the New York Daily News’ Top Music for 2013, Buzzfeed’s Records You Might Have Missed in 2013 and 35 Reasons Why R&B Had The Best Year Ever, The Daily Beast’s Strangest and Most Surprising Recordings of 2013, and inclusion in VH1’s Best Album Staff Picks.  Her moving cover of Nina Simone’s “Little Girl Blue” was also featured on the soundtrack for the critically acclaimed film 12 Years A Slave.

2013 was an equally thrilling year for Laura at home in the UK, where she was nominated for the coveted Barclaycard Mercury Prize and a BRITs Critics’ Choice Award, made the BBC Sound of 2013 shortlist, and won two MOBO Awards.  She also had the honor of performing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC’s Urban Classic Proms, and secured a slot on the main stage at Glastonbury.  Sing To The Moon also made UK critics’ year-end lists including the Sunday Times’s #1 album in their New Artists category, MOJO’s Albums of the Year, Q’s 50 Albums of the Year, and a performance on Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny special.  She also just received two 2014 BRITs nominations for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.
