                                      Desert Dragon - Bio

Desert Dragon is an Award-winning band from Los Angeles, California formed by guitarist Greg Patnode (Road Angel, No Morals (with shredder guitarist John Levin of Dokken). Patnode wrote and produced the self-titled debut album "Desert Dragon," with the exception of song "Can't Stay Away," which was produced by Geri O'Halloran.  Desert Dragon's debut album - recorded in different parts of Los Angeles from 2007-2010 and officially released in December of 2010 - is a mix of different styles of Hard Rock, Blues, Country Rock ("Texas Border," "Best of Kin" and "Take it Easy Now"), with a hint of Middle Eastern influence ("Desert Horizons" & "North Star"). The album has been compared to the likes of Pink Floyd and Queensryche ("Save My World") by Michael Laskow of respected music-placement company, TAXI. Desert Dragon's blues and country rock songs have also been favorably compared to  Jason Aldean & Montgomery Gentry (country's rebel acts).

Desert Dragon's earth-conscious song, "Save My World" from its debut album "Desert Dragon" received accolades, winning the 2011 MMA's in the "Best Rock Song" Category.

In January 2012 Desert Dragon entered into the studio for work on their new EP "DESOLATION" with the legendary Ron Nevison (producer/engineer for among others, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, The Rolling Stones) at the helm, with the album released September that year. In October of 2012 the first single "Darkness Shines" off "DESOLATION" was then released to FM HAC & Top 40 Radio station, with the single landing on Billboard charts  in February of 2013 for four weeks. The second single from "DESOLATION," "Miles Away," was released to FM radio in April of 2013 and ascended to Billboard's charts in July that year.

Desert Dragon recently shifted its focus from Blues to Hard Rock and Psychedelia, giving the band new momentum.  The group have even revamped some songs from their first album (most notably "Take It Easy Now", "Texas Border" and "Desert Horizons") to give them more hard rock content. Desert Dragon will be releasing new material in 2014. Stay tuned!
